April 12, 2012: Representing the band, Peyts attended the Ottawa Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society to turn-over the money raised via the band's "Cancer Fund Drumsticks Campaign". Peyts made the big cheque presentation, totaling $4,539.39, to Christina of the cancer society. This does NOT signify the conclusion of our cancer campaign... we are proud to announce that we'll be continuing our Cancer Fund Drumsticks Campaign, which will involve new fundraising initiatives, as well as the continuation of some of our past ones. Thanks to everyone who has donated to this fantastic cause... and we ask that others please step up and help out. You can donate via Paypal (see the "Cancer Fund" link on the menu at the top of the page), or email us to make other arrangements. And stay tuned for our new initiatives... which may result in hair loss for the band. :-) Streets of Hastings on Rogers' "Daytime - Ottawa" Television Show

'Cancer Fund Drumsticks' Receive Big Donation from Burin, NFLD!
Cancer seems to have hammered us all as, in one way or another, we are connected to at least one person who has battled this disease. As the drummer for Streets of Hastings, I undertook a campaign to raise money for the enduring fight against cancer. During this past Christmas, ‘Santa’ gave me a set of pink Los Cabos drumsticks... these are a special edition set of sticks made by a Canadian company in support of breast cancer awareness, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. As a memory to those lost to cancer, as well as a celebration of those who've beaten it, on those pink sticks I wrote the names of my friends & family who battled this disease. Further, I decided that those sticks would be used at only one big show, to then be used to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. That show was on May 14th, to a sold-out venue; since then, I have networked tenaciously to raise awareness about this campaign. With the assistance of Matt Carter, Director of Marketing and Artist Relations for the Los Cabos Drumsticks company, as well as via the employment of social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook, word spread about the cause… including to international recording artist Bif Naked, who via Twitter commented, “You are an inspiration!” As a result of my work, a donation of $1,500 was made by Smugglers Cove Roadhouse Bar in Burin, Newfoundland. Your continued support for this worthy cause, as well as any monetary donations, would be graciously accepted! Please see the link along the right side of this page to make a donation via Paypal. Or contact me at streetsofhastings@gmail.com. JOIN THE CAUSE! Thanks. :-) LARRY "Peyts" PEYTON Drummer, Streets of Hastings |
